Holiday Disney Resort Hop

A Holiday Disney Resort Hop

Disney during the holidays is so special and there is so much to do in the theme parks to get you in the spirit! But for me, no Disney vacation is complete without taking the time to do some resort hopping! I love visiting my two favorite areas by jumping on the monorail to visit the resorts on that line or heading over to the Boardwalk to stroll around that resort area. There’s always so much to do on these visits- grab an exclusive resort treat, find some hidden Mickey’s, explore a new lounge, bar or restaurant. And what better excursion than during Christmas for a holiday Disney Resort hop?! Let’s go!

Monorail Loop: Holiday Disney Resort Hop

1. Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

This resort is one of my favorites any time of the year! Stop by. Smell the tropical lobby. Walk the grounds. Spend some time on a swing on the beach. And during the holidays, you’re going to want to stop by Captain Cook’s for their seasonal holiday cupcake! This year, their cupcake is a chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and white chocolate peppermint filling. This yummy dessert is beautiful as well and looks like a colorful Christmas wreath.

2. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

This stop is my absolute favorite during the holidays. The decor is like no other resort on property. The trees and wreaths and garland- it’s all just so elegant. Take your time exploring every nook and cranny. Arrive during the afternoon or evening and experience the extra treat of live music on the piano in the lobby. Then grab the Happy Holidays Grand Cake Pop at Gasparilla Grill. This is a chocolate cake pop with chocolate ganache and a white chocolate shell drizzled with red and green chocolate and garnished with a red Mickey head. Yum!

3. Disney's Contemporary Resort

For our final stop, let’s hop back on the monorail from and take a ride to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Adults can pop into The Wave to grab their special season cocktail. The Mistletoe Mule has rum, cranberry and lime juice and ginger beer. It is a refreshing, delightful way to round out your resort hop. Upstairs in the Contempo Cafe, grab a “Build Your Own” Gingerbread House kit. Head on back to your resort and build your gingerbread house as a fun family activity while you watch last year’s Candlelight Processional from Epcot on tv.

Boardwalk Loop: Holiday Disney Resort Hop

1. Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resort

Take your time exploring these beautiful sister resorts. Come hungry! We have two stops here. First, pop in to the Beach Club Marketplace for their trio of fudge: white chocolate peppermint fudge, white chocolate gingerbread fudge and dark chocolate hot cocoa fudge. Makes a great souvenir too! Then head outside to the popular ice cream soda shop, Beaches and Cream. There, you’re going to want to grab a salted caramel pumpkin pie milkshake topped with an entire slice of pumpkin pie!! This treat is available at the to go window!

2. Disney's Boardwalk Inn

Disney’s Boardwalk area is so much fun to explore any time of the year. Modeled after a picturesque turn-of-the-century Atlantic City, there are so many shops and lounges and restaurants to check out. I love the options at this resort so much that I had a hard time narrowing down my holiday favorites. So I have given you three. First, stop by the Screen Door General Store and choose from a plethora of holiday confections. I love the holiday Mickey shaped Krispie treat! Next, take a stroll over to the Boardwalk Bakery and grab a Mickey Mouse Gingerbread Cookie and Santa Mickey Sugar Cookie! Wash it all down next door at AbracadaBar. Try their holiday cocktail: the Minty Mistletoe- with Bailey’s Irish cream, Disaronno Original and Bols peppermint Schnapps in a festive glass rimmed with crushed peppermint.

There are so many more holiday Disney Resort hops you can do! Check out Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation resorts on the Skyliner. Or add Disney’s Wilderness Lodge to your Monorail resort hop by taking the ferry over to that resort from the Contemporary. The possibilities are endless! Not able to make it to Disney this holiday season? Why not try bringing Disney to your home with this fabulous Wilderness Lodge Molasses Crackle Cookie recipe!
