Chapek Announces Avengers Campus Expansion at the D23 Expo this morning

As the Expo kicked off, Bob Chapek, CEO, came onstage. one of Chapek’s announcements was the expansion of the Avengers Campus at Disney’s California Adventure Park to feature a Multiverse attraction. No details were divulged, but he promised more information to be released at the Experiences and Products panel on Sunday.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure

Originally announced in 2020, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a reimagining of Splash Mountain at both Disneyland and Disney World. At the D23 Expo, they’ve displayed a diorama, detailing how the land will change for the ride. The ride’s storyline is that Tiana is preparing for a party, as the guests tag along to help, in the Louisiana salt mines. It was also announced that in Disneyland, we will see a shopping area, as well as dining in the way of Tiana’s Place itself! The area is slated to open in late 2024.

Mickey's ToonTown Refurbishment

Mickey’s Toontown closed on March 9th, of this year, to reopen in early 2023. It will reopen alongside the Disneyland version of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The updates to Toontown, besides the Railway, include Donald’s Boat, a new interactive fountain at Centoonial park, and an intricate rube-goldberg device for Goofy to make candy. These much needed updates to the 1993 staple.

Moana Journey of Water

The Moana themed attraction in EPCOT was originally supposed to open in 2021. Due to the pandemic, the opening date was ultimately pushed to 2023. At the expo, we have a scale model display of the gorgeous Te Fiti, who will stand 16 feet tall at the new attraction in Florida.

Movies and Shows

We got a sneak peak at the new Disney Title Card, featuring Disney 100. This gorgeous title screen features Cinderella’s Castle, front and center. To the left, you can see Matterhorn Mountain, and to the right is Pride Rock. The 100 featured front and center is to celebrate 100 years of Disney studios, starting in 1923! We’re excited to see this featured in 2023 Disney films.
