Mandalorian Season 2

Dear Bob(s): The Mandalorian Season 2

Still reeling off the epic finale of The Mandalorian Season 2, I feel the need to compose a thank you letter. But, Dear Bob(s), it is not you who I will be thanking today.  Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau- the creators of the greatest show on television right now- this one’s for you. Don’t worry… no spoilers.

Dear Dave Filoni & Jon Favreau

All I can say is bravo. Brilliant. You have brought legitimacy back to the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars fans have been divided by the most recent trilogy. With the Mandalorian Season 2, you have reunited the fan base and brought us a New Hope (see what I did there?).

The Mandalorian Season 2

The Twitterverse has exploded. Fans are thrilled with the twists and turns this finale brought us. Mr. Filoni, you had already proven that you understand the Star Wars fan and you have given us exactly what we needed in this entire season and especially the finale. Your work on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels have already proven that you, Mr. Filoni, are an expert in connecting all of the individual Star Wars stories into one cohesive timeline. This is likely credited to your personal connection with George Lucas and the free rein that Favreau has given to you to create this amazing world. Mr. Favreau, thank you for seeing the potential in these stories and the ability of Filoni to tell them, and for using your influence in the industry to see that these stories made it to the screen.

The Future

Disney + Star Wars

Last week was epic with the  announcements about all of the exciting new shows coming to Disney +. The shows will bring a fantastic balance of new material and nostalgia. The new Obi Wan Kenobi series, for example, will bring back Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.  Nostalgia is certainly in the air with the Mandalorian too…

And finally, my 18 year old son has been a Star Wars fan since he was a very small child, growing up watching both the original trilogy and the prequels. He tells me he was “disappointed in the direction the Star Wars universe went with the sequel trilogy, but they have turned it around with these new shows.” Incidentally, he also says that he hopes you can do some more “Old Republic” shows (specifically Bane of the Sith, a favorite story of his). So, Dear Filoni & Favreau, consider this a request. And thank you, again, for being you and being brilliant.

What are your thoughts about this season of the Mandalorian? Any requests for Favreau and Filoni while we have their attention? Let us know in the comments.
