Free Covid Testing at Walt Disney World

Did you know that Walt Disney World has a Free Covid Testing site? They recognized the difficulties in traveling right now, and whether you need a negative test to travel back home or for piece of mind Disney has you covered. The Florida Division of Emergency Management actually runs the site but it is located on Disney grounds. I have been in Florida for a few months and wanted to get tested and thought I would share my experience with you!

Location
Covid Testing Site

The testing location is really close to Walt Disney World, right off of Irlo Bronson Highway (192), it is a backstage area close to Animal Kingdom. You can’t take Disney transportation to get there, you’ll have to drive or be dropped off. The actual address is 3010 Maingate Lane, Kissimmee, Florida 34747.  When you get close, you will see several signs directing you.

Hours

The testing center is open 8am – 5pm Daily. It is for walk up appointments only. With everything else at Walt Disney World, during busy times, these lines can get long. If you are concerned with time, show up at opening and be one of the first to get their test done.

Can anyone go?

Anyone! The best part is you do not need symptoms or reasons, this test is for anyone that wants to get tested for Covid.

What to Expect

It is an outdoor facility, you do have to get out of your car, but they do keep everyone 6 feet apart.  If you want to register before you get in line you can go here https://www.patientportalfl.com.  If you didn’t register beforehand, no problem. They have QR codes at the entrance where you can fill out the forms. The forms are really basic with names, address, email address, and list of symptoms if you have them (again you don’t need too). It is a free test, so when it asks for insurance you can click decline.  Once you are registered you will be given a barcode which you will then show them and you can enter the line.  After the line you will go to a window and they will scan your barcode. They will send you to the next window and they give you a swab. You will use the swab on the inside of your nose and hand it back to the technician. Simple as that, than you can leave! You will receive your results via email within 15 minutes or so.

What Type of Test Is It?

By default, you will be given a rapid test. If, however, you have a reason to need a PCR test, they will give it to you. They may ask for proof that it is necessary.  If you did a rapid test and want to get a PCR test, you can then head back to the testing site if you would like.

How Long Was the Line and Did I Feel Safe?

everything at Walt Disney World though, if it is a busy time (like Spring Break) I would expect to wait in line for longer.

I felt very safe the whole time. There is plenty of space outside and they get you distanced from other people.  It was a very streamless, painless process!  15 minutes later I had my negative covid result!

  1. Thanks for that info. I’m just wondering, when you received your results, how quickly did you get the paper copy? Thanks
