Hanukkah Movies and Shows on Disney+

The holidays are coming! And nothing says holidays quite like cozying up with a mug of hot cocoa and the family to watch some feel-good holiday movies. By holiday movies, I of course include those Hanukkah gems you can now stream just in time for the first night of Hanukkah on December 10, 2020. Although there are fewer Hanukkah-themed movies and shows, they are out there if you know where to look! And look no further for Hanukkah than on Disney + .  So grab some gelt, light the menorah and tune in to some of these Hanukkah Movies on Disney +:

1. Full-Court Miracle

Full-Court Miracle is a 2003 Disney Channel Original Movie. It premiered on November 23, 2003. Inspired by the true story of University of Virginia basketball star Lamont Carr, the film centers on a group of young Jewish basketball players who search for a coach to help them out of a slump. As the boys go between the court and the classroom, they begin drawing parallels to Lamont’s background and the Hanukkah story of Judah.

Heck of a Hanukkah was the fifteenth episode of the first season of Even Stevens. It originally aired on Disney Channel on January 12, 2001. In this episode, Louis accidentally pushes the family’s Hanukkah gifts out of the window whilst trying to sneak a peek at them. When he is sent to his room as a punishment, the ghost of a long-dead relative appears to show him what life in the Stevens household would be like if he were not part of it. It’s a true Hanukkah miracle…

Bingo and Rolly help Bob make latkes for their neighbor Chloe’s Hanukkah party. Bob realizes he’s out of oil and the dogs destroy the rest of the ingredients.  The pups go on an adventure to find the ingredients they need.  Includes a fun latke song and a heartwarming message about spending time with family and friends.

So this one may be a bit of a stretch for Hanukkah on Disney+. But I’m still including it because it’s sweet and adorable and appeals to an older kid and preteen crowd. This episode is about Christmas, but Lizzie’s best friend, Gordo is Jewish and appears in this one a lot. Gordo wants to decorate the tree on the float because he’s already mastered making dreidels and lighting menorahs (what Jewish teen hasn’t) and is looking for a new challenge. Another sweet moment and Hanukkah bonus in this episode is when Lizzie’s mom makes latkes for Gordo. Check it out!

HONORABLE MENTION

Hanukkah Movies on Disney +

Even though this season is not a Hanukkah movie on Disney + right now, it deserves recognition.  Princess Rebecca, her brother Ari, and their Bubbe (Grandma) are ship wrecked in Avalor while on their way home to celebrate Hanukkah. Elena offers for them to have a Hanukkah celebration in Avalor.  Rebecca sings a song all about Hanukkah traditions.  They make latkes, build a dreidel and a make a hannukiah. This episode is solely about Hanukkah. No other holidays are mentioned, which makes it a unique episode worthy of mention. Check it out on demand or on Disney Now.

  1. Disney plus is really stepping up its game and the marvel release is really helping it. After the end of Loki when the time keeper was killed I knew that it was going to change everything going forward for the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe and it turns out I was right the what-if series will e based on the different universe created after female Loki killed the one who remained.
