Imagineer, Zach Riddley gave us a snack peak into the much anticipated new attraction in EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Until now, we’ve only been lucky enough to see mock ups of this coaster so this release brings us a step closer to completion.
According to initial descriptions of this coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will not only be the first Marvel-themed attraction at Walt Disney World, but it is being described as the park’s first “storytelling roller coaster.” The individual ride vehicles have the ability to swivel left and right in order to direct the rider’s attention to where the story is being told, likely through projection effects. This was further suggested by Riddley’s description of each ride vehicle designed with unique wear patterns and impact marks. No further information or hints were given about the story itself.
We still have not been given an estimate as to when the grand opening date will be, but you can be sure that the Mousekemoms are following this closely! It was rumored to have a projected opening in time for Disney’s 50th anniversary celebration, but with that celebration likely scaling back due to the effects of the pandemic reaching out into 2021, we may be more likely to see this grand opening in time for the 40th anniversary of Epcot in 2022. We shall see!
