Today, we are going to take a look at the most difficult to get dining reservations in Walt Disney World right now. Then we’ll let you know if we think they are worth the effort. Let’s dig in and see if you agree with our assessment!
Sangria University
First, let’s talk about the Mousekecocktail this week!
Keeping with the theme of difficult to get dining reservations, our Mousekecocktail today is brought to you by Sangria University. This fun 90 minute class is offered every Saturday and Sunday at the Three Bridges Bar and Grill at Disney’s Coronado Springs. Cost of the course is $59 including tax and gratuity and must be paid at the time of booking. Guests under 21 years of age are welcome and are charged the full fee but given non-alcoholic options to mix. During the class, guests taste 4 different sangria recipes and then are given ingredients to mix their own. Light appetizers are also served. For more details, check out of review here.
Space 220
Space 220 is the popular newest restaurant in EPCOT located right next to the Mission Space attraction. The cuisine is modern American. Sit down to a prix-fixe, 2-course meal at lunch ($55 per adult 10+) or a prix-fixe, 3-course meal at dinner ($79 per adult 10+). Or, grab a seat in the lounge for cocktails and appetizers. The atmosphere at this restaurant is definitely a large part of the appeal. Guests are lifted off into space to enjoy their meal floating around with the stars. The food, though, is not too shabby either. Start with your choice of appetizer, like Space Greens or Blue Moon Cauliflower. For your main course, choose from delicious options like the Bluehouse Salmon. After dinner, delight in a sweet send-off when you order the Lemon Mousse or Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake for dessert. Specialty beverages––like the Celestial Cosmopolitan or the Planetary Punch––are also available, along with a wide selection of craft beer. It is easy to see why this is a difficult to get dining reservation. But is it worth the effort? Despite the hefty price tag, we think this is definitely worth the effort.
Storybook Dining at Artist Point
Storybook Dining at Artist Point is located in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Serving American fare, this restaurant features character dining with Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy and The Evil Queen. The atmosphere is charming. It looks like an enchanted forest complete with fairy lights and trees. Serving dinner only, the menu offers guests their choice of individual plated entrées and includes shared starters and desserts. For an entree, try A Stroll through Nature: Asparagus, Leeks, Arugula, Gnocchi, Sage, Parmesan. And for dessert, enjoy the theatrical presentation of The Hunter’s Gift to the Queen. Now the big question: Is it worth it? This difficult to get dining reservation is definitely worth the effort once to experience the amazing character interactions and atmosphere. The jury is still out on the quality of the actual food.
Topolino's Terrace
Topolino’s Terrace is one of our favorite venues. Located in Disney’s Riviera Resort, this restaurant offers French and Italian cuisine for dinner and an American breakfast with character dining. Breakfast features Mickey, Minnie, Daisy and Donald and is price fixed at $27 for kids, $42 for adults 10+. The atmosphere at this restaurant is unbeatable: stunning rooftop views and a modern interpretation of the textures and colors found in villages along the Riviera. For breakfast, you must try the Sour Cream Waffle- Roasted Apple, Chantilly, Orange-Maple Syrup, and served with choice of Smoked Bacon, Ham, Sausage, or Plant-based Sausage. For dinner, order the Ricotta appetizer-Tomato, Aged Balsamic, Cracked Pepper, Basil, Epi. For dinner, you have to try the French Veal Chop-Pommes Fondantes, Baby Brussels Sprouts and Sicilian Salsa Verde. Is this difficult to get dining reservation worth it? We unanimously agree: YES!!!
California Grill
California Grill is located on the top floor of Disney’s Contemporary resort, offering an atmosphere with stunning views of the Magic Kingdom. A signature dining experience, this difficult to get dining reservation serves American cuisine and seafood. We love the Braised Beef Short Rib Wontons appetizer- Doenjang Miso-Cola-Onion Sauce, Crispy Garlic-Chili Oil, Radish, Pickled Lotus Root. For an entree, order the Oak-fired Filet of Beef-Black Truffle-Brown Butter Château Potatoes, Golden Raisins Vinaigrette, Cauliflower, Roasted Tomato Butter. This restaurant is currently offering a price fixed meal for the 50th anniversary celebration of the Magic Kingdom. This has therefore changed the usual menu to offer a special menu for the occasion. In our opinion, at this time, this reservation is not one that is worth the effort. We are not fans of the current offerings. However, when the original menu returns, this reservation is one to get!
Beaches and Cream
Beaches and Cream is located in Disney’s Beach Club Resort. This iconic ice cream parlor and soda shop is a notoriously difficult to get dining reservation. This is very much to do with the fact that the restaurant is very small and it is also very conveniently located within walking distance to Epcot, offering guests a great venue to cool off and take a break. The atmosphere in here offers the nostalgia of the Atlantic seashore complete with jukebox and milkshakes. Diners here come to order The Kitchen Sink: Scoops of Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Cookies ‘n Cream, and Mint Chocolate Chip topped with, Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter, SNICKERS® pieces, Fresh-baked Brownie, and smothered in every additional topping we have. Also available Chocolate Lovers or Neapolitan. The MousekeMoms think this is definitely a fun option, but (for taste), we prefer any of the other specialty sundaes and milkshakes.
Is it worth it? Yes!!!
Nabbing That Difficult to Get Dining Reservation
Dining reservations open up 60 days in advance at 6am online or 7am on the phone. Did you know that you must cancel a dining reservation at least 24 hours in advance or risk being charged $10 per person for a no-show fee??? If you can’t score one of these hard to get dining reservations 60 days in advance, your best bet is to try 24 hours in advance when people whose plans have changed are canceling their reservations. Keep refreshing your screen! Lori is a master at this. Difficult to get dining reservations in Disney are usually really worth the effort!!
