Packing Cubes

Using Packing Cubes for Disney

Hi, my name is Betty and I have a dirty little secret.  I PACK TOO MUCH FOR DISNEY VACATIONS. Let’s face it – with Instagram, Facebook, & Memory Maker –  we all like to look and feel cute in those Disney photos. If you’re anything  like me, you love to pack cute outfits, matching family shirts, multiple pairs of shoes, and anything else you can shove in that bag. It’s a mess.  My advice: start using packing cubes for Disney.

Incredible Celebration

I recently purchased two sets of packing cubes, one for me and one for my husband.  What a game changer!  Each set came with multiple sized cubes:  perfect for organizing your undergarments and pajamas, your shirts and shorts, pants, and dresses.  I like to dress up for dinner, so we always bring extra outfits for evening, and the packing cubes even have room to fit these items.  I just roll the clothes up when using packing cubes for Disney.  Don’t worry about wrinkles. Resorts have irons if you need one. I bring some wrinkle release spray, or my travel steamer, and it does the trick.

I do not like to live out of my suitcase on vacation and digging through a suitcase to find my outfit each day, so I  unpack as soon as I check into my Disney Resort  hotel. Unpacking helps me feel organized and makes mornings run more smoothly, especially on park days.  Packing cubes make it so easy. I can just place them in the drawer and unzip (I do still clean the drawers with antibacterial wipes before putting my cubes or clothes in the drawers).

Packing Pouches

I especially love using packing cubes for Disney when planning a split resort stay. I can stay organized by packing for each resort in a different set of cubes. Packing cubes make it easy for me to only unpack the items I need for each part of my stay. I don’t have to fully repack my suitcase to switch resort hotels. This is a huge timesaver when headed to a park on the morning of a resort transfer day.

While packing cubes help a ton with staying organized, they can’t cure my overpacking problem. In fact, they might even make it worse. Now I can fit so much more in my suitcase.  While using packing cubes for Disney makes things efficient, it can make your suitcase heavier.

“You are at 53lbs. Can you please remove something from your luggage?

Does this sound familiar to you? Even with my 7 pairs of ears, Disney Vera Bradley cross body, my  Loungefly bag,  and my Dooney and Burke wristlet safely  in my carry on (I never take a chance on losing these in my luggage), I still run over weight.

On a short getaway I’ve used packing cubes to get everything into a carryon. But for longer trips, I can fit two sets of cubes in one large suitcase. I can  avoid the airline luggage fee for two bags,  but I do still have to worry about weight limits. At least when I have to remove items to get back under the limit, I can just pull a packing cube out of my suitcase and cram it into my carry-on.

If you can stay underweight while using packing cubes for Disney, it’s great to have only one suitcase to navigate through the airport. With luggage delivery service currently suspended, on my last two Disney Vacations (Copper Creek Villas & A Tale of Two Resort Stays) I had to collect my own luggage from the airport carousel and drag it through the airport to Disney’s Magical Express. I was miserable. With Magical Express ending completely on January 1, 2022, I am really concerned about my overpacking problem. Using packing cubes for Disney can’t really help with that.

I need your help. There are so many bags and items to aid in your over packing addiction- What are your tips and tricks? Please share them with me below.
