Happy Cinco De Mayo Mousekemom friends! Today we’ll be taking a peek into the Mexico Pavilion. Lets find out the best way to be celebrating Cinco De Mayo in Disney.
What Is Cinco De Mayo?
Cinco De Mayo is an annual celebration that happens on the 5th of May every year. It commemorates Mexico’s victory on May 5th, 1862, against the French empire. This holiday is to honor and celebrate that victory won 125 years ago!
Celebrating Cinco De Mayo at the Mexico Pavilion
While we’ve tackled some must-do’s at Epcot before, we’ll be taking a new spin on it, with how to enjoy the best afternoon at the Mexico Pavilion at Epcot.
As you approach the Mexico Pavilion, you are greeted by a 36 foot tall pyramid, modeled after ancient Aztec Temples. The Imagineers (as always) had great attention to detail, making you really feel like you’re looking up at a temple.
Coco In Mexico
As you enter into the temple, fans of the movie Coco, will be excited, as you enter into Remember Me! La Celebracion del Dia de Muertos. In this attraction, you’ll find beautiful authentic Mexican art, displays from scenes in the movie, and a few interactive spots where you can spend some time feeling as if you were in the movie.
As you continue in, to your right is La Cava. Stop and enjoy some tequila, as you celebrate the place where tequila was born. If you’re feeling boujie, book a tasting that will walk you through some of their offerings, the best pairings and make you an expert on all things agave!
Art and Shopping
As you continue to venture in, enjoy the authentic Mexican art as you explore the pavilion. From hot sauce to Gran Fiesta Tour merchandise to authentic woven jewelry, there’s something for everyone. They also now offer Coco souvenirs for your Pixar-loving pals.
Be sure to stop in La Princesa de Cristal, to enjoy the Arribas Brothers porcelain, crystal and glassware. If you’re lucky, you may be able to catch one of their glass artisans in the act as they create delicate, beautiful designs available in shop. Its definitely worth a stop.
Gran Fiesta Tour
You absolutely cannot go inside the Mexico Pavilion without stopping by the 3 Caballeros on the Gran Fiesta Tour! This attraction makes this pavilion unique, as one of the 3 pavilions that has a ride (The other two are: France- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Norway- Frozen Ever After). Join our friends Panchito and José as they search for Donald Duck to complete their musical trio! Hijinks ensue as you tour Mexico in persuit of Donald and get to experience their lovely musical stylings.
San Angel Inn
Now that we’ve worked up an appetite, lets stop for a bite. We love San Angel Inn for its authentic food and its cozy atmosphere. We love stopping for a romantic meal, or even just a relaxed family meal. Situated under the sky in perpetual twilight, enjoy your meal with house-made salsa and chips. If you’re not in the mood for a meal, check out some of their fabulous desserts, like the sweet corn ice cream, or the amazing Chocolate “Fiesta” Pyramid, which is made to share!
